HI, I am trying to use usb redirector for linux to connect from a desktop machine running ubuntu 12.10 (Linux oxford 3.5.0-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 11 18:51:59 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) to a raspberry pi (Linux raspberrypi 3.2.27+ #250 PREEMPT Thu Oct 18 19:03:02 BST 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux).

The server appears to be running fine on the pi, and from the client I can see the exported devices:

tonyj@oxford:~$ usbclnt -l

================= USB CLIENT OPERATION SUCCESSFUL ===============
List of USB servers and devices:

1: USB server at 192.168.0.95:32032
Mode: manual-connect Status: connected
|
|- 2: Arduino Mega 2560 Arduino (www.arduino.cc) Communications Device (s/n: 74937303736351915221)
| Vid: 2341 Pid: 0010 Port: 1-1.3
| Mode: manual-connect Status: not available
|
`- 3: Dell Memory Key M-SysT5 USB Mass Storage Device (s/n: 07B071502201B8F1)
Vid: 08ec Pid: 0015 Port: 1-1.2
Mode: manual-connect Status: available for connection
===================== ======================= ===================

But when I attempt to connect the desktop machine instantly freezes completely. There are no messages written to the system log.

usbclnt -connect -server 192.168.0.95:32032 -vid 08ec -pid 0015 -usbport 1-1.2

Is there anyway I can help to debug this problem?

PS Connecting to the same server from windows works fine, so the problem really does appear to be with the client on ubuntu.

Hi tonyj,

Does it happen with all devices or just mass storage?

I tried both of the devices listed in my original post (when the arduino was connected) and both failed in the same way.

I just wanted to add that this also works on 13.04 with kernel 3.7.0-7, with the other version I would get a kernel panic.
