Hi,

I did'nt find the answer on the forum but I probably did'nt looking for at the right place, so sorry for that.

Could someone help me to install "USB Redirector for Linux" on a such configuration, I mean RPI3b+ with raspbian buster OS?
I have a system up-to-date and the last release of kernel-headers.
I have downloaded and installed the armeabihf release of the sofware.
But I always get at the end of the installation the same message :

Quote:
pi@raspberrypi:/usb-redirector-linux-arm-gnueabihf $ sudo ./installer.sh install -server

*** Installing USB Redirector for Linux v3.8
*** Destination dir: /usr/local/usb-redirector
*** Checking installation...
*** Detecting system...
*** distribution: raspbian
*** kernel: 4.19.75-v7+
*** Cleaning up installation...
***
*** INSTALLATION FAILED!
??? Kernel sources or kernel headers directory not found. Please install the corresponding package first.

So I try to install the package, and the message still remains the same :

Quote:
pi@raspberrypi:/usb-redirector-linux-arm-gnueabihf $ sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-kernel-headers
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
raspberrypi-kernel-headers is already the newest version (1.20200212-1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
pi@raspberrypi:/usb-redirector-linux-arm-gnueabihf $

So now I don't know what to do.
If you could help me find the solution, it would be very kind of you.

BR

Michel

Hi Michel!

Please check this topic, you would probably want to try the Option C:

Looks like there is a mess with raspberrypi-kernel-headers package in the repository... The package contains kernel headers for the kernel version 4.19.97-v7+, but your kernel version is 4.19.75-v7+. You can try to update your kernel.

Great!
Note that you need to re-install USB Redirector each time after updating the kernel. It is because kernel module is tied to the kernel version, so you have to re-compile it when kernel changes.

Sorry, it's me again.
I tried to install the client and I have the same trouble.
This time I haven't forgotten to reboot.
Here is the commands and results :

Quote:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt install raspberrypi-kernel-headers

Reading state information... Done
raspberrypi-kernel-headers is already the newest version (1.20190819~stretch-1).

pi@raspberrypi:~/usb-redirector-linux-arm-gnueabihf $ sudo ./installer.sh install-client

Looks like an opposite problem: your kernel is new, but kernel-headers are old.

Try:
Code:
sudo apt update

and then install kernel headers again:
Code:
sudo apt install raspberrypi-kernel-headers

I've done it but in the 2 cases, it told me I have the newest release.

All the raspberrypi-kernel-headers are located here:
https://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/r/raspberrypi-firmware/
I found that the latest version (raspberrypi-kernel-headers_1.20200212-1_armhf.deb) is for the kernel 4.19.97, so probably your kernel version is too new and the kernel-headers are not released yet. In this case you need to revert back to the previous kernel.

Based on the information from the RaspberryPi website:
Quote:
When a new kernel release is made, you will need the headers that match that kernel version. It can take several weeks for the repo to be updated to reflect the latest kernel version
