Hi,

I have found three rather annoying stability issues when running redirector version 3.2.2 on RaspBerry Pi2.
1. Management tool's (usbsrv) response slows down considerably after daemon has been running for couple of hours. The only way to recover is to restart usb redirector daemon.

2. From client's perspective the same issue appears as "can't establish direct connection to <usb-redirector-host>" The only way to recover is to restart usb redirector daemon. There is one strange side effect, when this issue appears, devices which were auto connected, still operate correctly.

3. When running usbsrv -l to get a list of attached usb devices sometimes list is correct and sometimes list misses items, which are displayed when lsusb is used. This list should show all available usb devices and device status (shared or not, if shared then connected client's address etc).

I suspect that the problem lies in daemons control thread, which is responsible for servicing request coming from network or over name pipe @usbsrvd.pipe.

Running on kernel: Linux xxxx 3.18.0-25-rpi2 #26-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT Sun Jul 5 06:46:34 UTC 2015 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux
Binary package: ARM-EABI

Regards

Also, can you tell me what kind of USB device you are redirecting? If possible, please include vendor id and product id as displayed by usbsrv utility.

Hmm, I wonder if this new 3.4 ARM binary package is compatible with ARM-EABI? as previous references to the same ARM package here did not work at all. Kernel module compiled just fine but binaries did not work at all.

No good, shared devices appear and disappear randomly when 'usbsrv -l' is executed on server. This behaviour appears as soon as clients acquire shared USB device. Although if seen from the client side, everything is OK, connection to server is "green" and device shared over network operates normally. That was also fine with version 3.2.2 but issue appeared after running client for few hours. So, we have to wait and see.

I confirm, that the issue described in initial post still exists in version 3.4 running on Pi2 (Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS, kernel 3.18.0-25-rpi2 #26-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT Sun Jul 5 06:46:34 UTC 2015 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux)
After running for few hours, the thread which is responsible for accepting remote TCP/IP session no longer accepts new connections (although established connections to shared devices are fine) and a thread which should discover/display usb devices available on server, is slow to respond queries from usbsrv binary and displays empty list, shared devices are not shown in that output:

================= USB SERVER OPERATION SUCCESSFUL ===============
List of local USB devices:

1: USB Device vendor_id 0x0424 - product_id 0xec00
Vid: 0424 Pid: ec00 Port: 1-1.1
Status: plugged

===================== ======================= ============

but the output of this command on that host should look like this:

================= USB SERVER OPERATION SUCCESSFUL ===============
List of local USB devices:

1: USB Device vendor_id 0x0424 - product_id 0xec00
Vid: 0424 Pid: ec00 Port: 1-1.1
Status: plugged

3: CodeMeter-Stick M WIBU-SYSTEMS AG USB Mass Storage Device (s/n: xxxxxxxxxxxx)
Vid: 064f Pid: 03f3 Port: 1-1.3
Status: in use by xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

4: USB-Serial Controller Prolific Technology Inc.
Vid: 067b Pid: 2303 Port: 1-1.5
Status: in use by xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

===================== ======================= ============

Maybe there is a hidden option which could enable logging to file or to syslog and maybe the level of logging can be increased, verbose or debug?

Please update to the latest version (3.5):
http://www.incentivespro.com/usb-redirector-linux-arm-eabi.tar.gz
It contains some important changes that may affect this issue. If it still persists, we'll need to investigate it deeper.
